Invited Lecturers

Prof. Prabhat Verma

Prof. Prabhat Verma received his M.S. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, India in 1988, and completed his Ph.D. from IIT, Delhi, India in 1994. After a postdoctoral research at IIT Delhi, he joined TU Bergakademie, Freiberg, Germany as a DAAD research fellow in 1996, and moved to Japan in 1999 as a JSPS Research Fellow at Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT). He was a lecturer in KIT from 2001 to 2002, after which he joined Osaka University, Japan as an associate professor. In 2010, he became full professor at the department of Applied Physics, Osaka University, and started his laboratory "NaSpec", which is an abbreviation of Nano Spectroscopy.

Prof. Verma's current research interests are nano-Raman spectroscopy, tip-enhanced near-field spectroscopy, plasmonics, metamaterials, and other light-matter interactions at nanoscale. He develops spectroscopic techniques to study the basic properties of materials at nanoscale. Prof. Verma has published more than 50 papers in several journals including Nature photonics, Phys. Rev. Lett., Phys. Rev. B, Appl. Phys. Lett., Nanotechnology, and so on.
